Issues
- The copy protection can take a -very- long time to pass (several minutes) in some circumstances. To get around this, either enter the cedega settings for the game and winver to 'win2k' or 'winxp' (from the default 'win98'), or use a different CD drive (the problem seems to only happen on certain drive types).
- The opening videos might be slow and have problems. With Cedega, or in the Point2Play command line, insert this (after command if starting game up from command line interface):
+restart 1. Note that this doesn't seem to be as big an issue in newer versions of Cedega (which handle the opening video better), but it's still faster to skip over it.
- Before Cedega v4.0.1, you might experience performance losses when you set the quality to High, or run the game in higher resolutions than 800x600 or use high quality sound settings. With later Cedega versions, this is no longer true and you will see little or no performance decrease when changing to higher settings.
- Before you run the game, check that your 3D hardware acceleration is properly working, especially if you have used CTRL + ALT + Backspace to get out of an earlier game. Without proper hardware acceleration you will experience slow loading of levels, and you'll get stuck and have to restart.

Punkbuster
- When joining punkbuster servers (be sure you turned it on) it'll give out "OS exception" for about 3-5 minutes. (Open the ingame console to disable the warning sound) Let this go, and when its done, it'll do a couple more things, and you'll never see this again... unless you reinstall the game. (you need to repeat this if you get kicked by the server and use an empty server)
- Alternatively: Download the PunkBuster updater from the site (there is a native Linux binary), run it from your home directory as pbsetup.sh and tell it where your Battlefield 1942 folder is, let it update, and you shouldn't receive any errors like this.

Tips
- To get a screen resolution that is not available in the menu edit
Mods/bf1942/Setings/Profiles/Custom/Video.con - The mod dc_final still needs Desert Combat 0.7, or it will fail to load a map
