Help:Wiki-FAQ
From Unofficial TransGaming Wiki
How do I create a new page on your wiki?
You can find extensive info and helpful tips on how to create a new page on Help:Adding_a_game.
User Pages
It's handy if you include your system specifications in your userpage. People can look up what kind of system specifications and distribution you are using when you run the game. You can use my userinfo as a template.
How do I apply sections, lists, images, etc to my page?
Read the Extensive guide on wiki editing. I would appreciate it if you would not use tables on the wiki pages for anything other than tabular data. (So no using tables for fancy layouts.)
Where can I find more info about how to use images on wiki pages?
Read Help:Image.
Why is this wiki so slow?
Well, i'm hosting it on my own server which is connected to a 64 kBps max upload line. Be glad you're able to see this page at all. :)
I'm a stats freak, where can I find some stats about this wiki?
See Special:Statistics or the Statistics page that Tels maintains.
How do I add images to a wiki article?
After you have logged in, you'll see a toolbox on the navigation panel on the left. Simply click "Upload file" and read the page. It should help you enough to get an image uploaded. Please provide a proper description of what the image represents. Then you can link to it by typing [[Image:Filename.ext]]. Additional options you could use are [[Image:Filename.ext|thumb|left|48px|caption]].
- thumb will automatically resize your screenshot and create a link to it so that users do not need to load the full image.
- left makes the image appear on the left. Other options are center and right.
- 48px will specify the width and height of the image. The number is of course customizable.
- caption will make the word be the alternative text for the image and if used in combination with thumb, it will function as a caption.
Any tips about writing in discussion pages?
Yes, use ~~~~ to include your name and a timestap like this:
Omega 19:54, 4 Nov 2004 (CET)
Then "close" your post by using ---- which will create a horizontal line. If there are multiple discussions going on at the same wiki dicussion page, create a subject name under which all the discussion relevant to that subject will be placed. You can do this by simply typing ==Subject==. A table of content is automaticly added if there are more than 4 subjects. But you can of course force a table of content by putting __TOC__ at the top of the page.
