Point2Play 1.2 Release Notes

Welcome to TransGaming Point2Play 1.2, which is the latest version of our official graphical frontend for Cedega.
Please refer to the Point2Play HowTo Guide, available in the Downloads section of the TransGaming website , and also from the help menu with Point2Play itself, for detailed usage instructions.
If you require assistance, please feel free to make a post to the Point2Play forum.

New in this release
- P2P has been fully translated into German thanks to Bernie Pallek (tausendeck) and SUSE and Portuguese thanks to Evandro Gardenali (hk). We are looking for volunteers to finish off our partial translations for Polish and Spanish as well as to provide translations to other languages. If you'd like to provide a new translation, or provide a correction to one, please follow the translation howto instructions.
- Ability to install and use standard WineX packages and share them with multiple Point2Play users rather than installing WineX for each user, saving disk space. (only works with WineX versions 3.2.1 and newer)
- GTK errors and warnings on some Linux distributions are now fixed. P2P will co-operate better with your window manager's themes
- Downloading and installing WineX versions through P2P is now more robust
- Added tooltips to options in the Configure Game popup to ease use. (Only available from small Point2Play packages)
- Can now pass games commandline options when using the --run cmdline option
- Program groups are available immediately after install begins, rather than at the end of the install when icons are created
- Other minor bug fixes
How To Install Point2Play
Point2Play is available in a variety of pre-built binary packages designed to suit most Linux distributions.
First select the package that is right for you:
rpm - RedHat Package Management (RedHat Linux, Mandrake Linux, SuSE Linux, etc)
To install the Point2Play rpm package, open a console/terminal window and execute the following command as 'root':
# rpm -ivh Point2Play-[version].rpm
deb - Debian Package (Debian GNU/Linux, Corel/Xandros Linux, Lindows,etc)
To install the Point2Play deb package, open a console/terminal window and execute the following command as 'root':
# dpkg -i Point2Play_[version].deb
tgz - Tar GZipped Package (Slackware Linux, GenToo, etc.)
To install the Point2play tgz package, open a console/terminal window and execute the following commands as 'root':
# cd / # tar -xvzf Point2Play-[version].tgz
(The tgz was generated using the alien utility)
Known Issues
- Distributions such as SuSE 8.2 and Debian Unstable use a version of pthreads which only allows for a 2 megabyte per thread stack size. Most games do not require more than 2 megabytes per thread, however some games such as Metal of Honor: Allied Assault do require more than 2 megabytes and will not work. If you use any release of Cedega or a release of WineX more recent than 3.2 then you can play without pthreads and not face this limitation ; however, WineX versions 3.0 and 3.1 DO require pthreads and will suffer from the limitation described.
You can see if your distribution has this issue by running the "Test if POSIX Threads (pthreads) Are Required" test in the "System Tests" tab in Point2Play.
- Renaming a Program Group may affect game functionality as there is a slight chance that renaming a program group could affect the functionality of the games contained in it, especially regarding registry entries with UNIX paths rather than Windows paths.
