September 13th, 2004
Welcome to TransGaming Point2Play 1.3.2, which is the latest version of our official graphical frontend for Cedega.
Please refer to the Point2Play HowTo Guide, available in the Downloads section of the TransGaming website , and also from the help menu with Point2Play itself, for detailed usage instructions.
If you require assistance, please feel free to make a post to the Point2Play forum.
If you wish to have your post answered by a TransGaming staff member make a support request. (Make sure you are logged in and click on "Make a Support Request")
TransGaming depends on volunteers like you to make Point2Play available in a number of different languages. Please check out this link for details: http://www.transgaming.org/i18n
New in this release
- Improved the display of errors from the ALSA sound test
- The location/name of menus to launch Point2Play has been improved for several distributions
- Fix "Get Another Version" for Cedega 4.0.1
- Fixed regression with the Mount CD Pop up so that it doesn't block you from using Point2Play while it is popped up (when popped up from the main window)
- Fixed an issue with getting list of available languages using Point2Play
- More graceful handling of bad URLS when downloading a Cedega version (In the extremely rare case that a new version was deployed incorrectly by TransGaming).
- More graceful handling of downloading a version of Cedega which has features that the current Point2Play can't support (it requests that you upgrade).
- You can now add config file option to a per-game config that Point2Play isn't aware of and Point2Play will pick up on them (rather than silently dropping them).
- Version credentialing of Cedega versions has been simplified. This is generally hidden from the user but power users might notice - please see the Howto under "Using a Cedega Package (not downloaded and installed via P2P) with Point2Play"
How To Install Point2Play

To install the Point2Play rpm package, open a console/terminal window and execute the following command as 'root':
# rpm -ivh Point2Play-[version].rpm
deb - Debian Package (Debian GNU/Linux, Corel/Xandros Linux, Lindows,etc)

tgz - Tar GZipped Package (Slackware Linux, GenToo, etc.)
To install the Point2play tgz package, open a console/terminal window and execute the following commands as 'root':
# cd / # tar -xvzf Point2Play-[version].tgz
(The tgz was generated using the alien utility)
Known Issues
- Distributions such as SuSE 8.2 and Debian Unstable use a version of pthreads which only allows for a 2 megabyte per thread stack size. Most games do not require more than 2 megabytes per thread, however some games such as Metal of Honor: Allied Assault do require more than 2 megabytes and will not work. If you use any release of Cedega or a release of WineX more recent than 3.2 then you can play without pthreads and not face this limitation ; however, WineX versions 3.0 and 3.1 DO require pthreads and will suffer from the limitation described.
You can see if your distribution has this issue by running the "Test if POSIX Threads (pthreads) Are Required" test in the "System Tests" tab in Point2Play.
- Renaming a Program Group may affect game functionality as there is a slight chance that renaming a program group could affect the functionality of the games contained in it, especially regarding registry entries with UNIX paths rather than Windows paths.
