Issues as of Cedega 4.3
- Some types of ships will occasionally show up corrupted, with obvious polygon errors. To avoid this, enable pixel shaders in either the config file or in Point2Play's config panel for the game - they don't have to be turned on in the game itself, just in Cedega. This workaround will only work with FX-level cards and up, and there is currently no know way around the problem for lower-level cards.
- Though pixel shaders must be enabled in Cedega to fix the above problem, they must be turned OFF in the game's settings, otherwise, all of the land in the game becomes invisible.
[edit]
Issues from 4.2 and below
- Game runs for the most part, but can be very crash-happy, especially in towns. To get around this, disable shaders in-game (leave them enabled in Cedega) and turn off the use of VAR and VBO support (in the game's config panel in P2P, or in the ~/.transgaming/config file).
- Cedega 4.2 runs this game much slower than previous builds - it seems to run considerably quicker using Cedega 4.1.1 (especially with VBO/VAR off, which is needed to keep the game from crashing, as above)
- One of the main controls does not work - the '5' key on the keypad, which is used to attack other ships on the map, and fire cannons in combat, will not respond. Use the mouse to click on the 'Fire'/'Attack' button, and you can also press the space bar to fire cannons.
- Copy protection does work for the game, but it can take a long time (more than a minute) for the game to start up, so a no-cd might be useful even if not needed.
- Windows version must be set to win98 required to install. (Cedega 4.2-1)
- Major graphics corruption with ATI cards.
