Talk:Guild Wars
From Unofficial TransGaming Wiki
NOTE: It is supprising to see official Transgaming support for Guild Wars. NCsoft is the maker of Guild Wars and it is possible that NC soft will require Game Guard to run Guild Wars. NCsoft also makes Lineage 2. After about 6-12 months from Lineage 2 release date NCsoft required everyone to install Game Guard to play Lineage 2. Game Guard is the reason why Lineage 2 no longer works with Transgaming technology.
If Game Guard becomes incorporated into Guild Wars, Transgaming will either stop supporting Guild Wars or Game Guard will be ported to Linux. The first option seems more likely. Hopefully this is not the case, but it remains a possibility.
ISSUE:
It is mentioned thatUsing -opengl in the "Command Line Option" area may result in a black screen and nothing else
Yet the Guildwars client neither supports an -opengl option (World of Warcraft does) nor does the client support openGL (being a pure DirectX application.)
It has no effect on any of the ATI cards (9200, 9800XT on SuSE) or nVidia (Gforce 6800 on Fedora) for Cedega since 4.4.3 I have tried it on. But the sympoms resemble the issues caused by the Sorrow's Furnace 2005 Summer Update . --waveclaw 17:08, 3 Jan 2006 (EST)
Regarding issue:
I made that comment on the page based on some reports from the Transgaming forums, don't remember exactly where I saw them. Just warning people who compulsively try -opengl on their programs (I know I do, especially after how much it fixed Warcraft 3 for me...) darkside 01:28, 4 Jan 2006 (EST)
