Issues

  • Game requires 3.x to work in Direct3D mode. Newer versions will work, but only in software mode.(uncomfirmed, some dude on irc said he had it working in D3D with 4.4-1)

This is what he said: "I'm using Cedega 4.4-1 and, with the 2.26final patch, you can manually change the config file and enable Direct3D rendering without any problems whatsoever

the steps to do so are:
Edit <path to Unreal installation>/System/Unreal.ini
There, under the section [Engine.Engine], make sure the following options have these values:
GameRenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice
WindowedRenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice
RenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice
You can also tweak the Direct3D rendering parameters by editing the options inside the [D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice] section" (someone needs to verify this.)
  • Unreal Editor will not work.
  • The advanced options window has problems.
  • When starting the game for the first time, it was in an odd fullscreen mode (that scrambled the display). After waiting a few seconds, it moved into a windowed mode.

Notes

  • The original Unreal, the mission pack, and Unreal Gold all work basically the same.
  • The game is completable.
